Lace Cutting Guide

How to Cut the Lace on a Lace-Front Wig

  1. Secure the wig on your head and adjust it to your natural hairline. Alternatively, you can secure it to a wig stand or mannequin head.

  2. Use a wide-tooth comb to gently brush all hair away from the lace. Secure with clips to keep strands out of the way.

  3. If you’re new to lace trimming, you can lightly mark your cut line with a pencil, leaving at least 1 cm of lace beyond the hair line.

  4. Using small, sharp scissors, begin cutting in the centre of the forehead area, working slowly toward each ear.

  5. Follow the hairline carefully, cutting in short, curved strokes rather than one long cut for better control.

  6. Once you have cut off the main section of the lace, you can trim closer to the hairline and make small adjustments. Aim to leave a lace edge of 3 to 5mm. Avoid cutting right up to the hair knots - leaving a slight lace edge helps prevent fraying and keeps the hairline looking natural.

  7. Once the lace is trimmed, you are ready to wear your amazing new hair!

Tip: Always cut less lace than you think - you can trim more later, but you can’t replace what’s been cut.
